About this place
Tucked away in the gorgeous wilderness of the Arrowhead region, this unique, environmentally-friendly retreat is located in Hovland, Minnesota, and is ideal for those looking for an off-grid rental to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This Guest Suite is located in the hosts off-grid homestead. Guests will pass through a common area and go up a flight of steps to the suite with a private bathroom. With lovely hickory floors knotty pine ceilings, this rustic suite can accommodate up to six glampers. There is one queen-size bed, two XL twin-size beds, and one full-size futon. All beds except the futon have bed lights and pull curtains for extra privacy. All • Pillows, bedding, towels, and washcloths are provided. The private bathroom featuring a shower, a sink, and a toilet is located next to the suite. Other amenities include eco heated floors, through an outdoor wood boiler.
The full kitchenette has everything glampers need to make their favorite recipes, including a small range cooker, a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a French press. Additionally, the kitchenette is fully stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils. Glampers will be able to enjoy their delicious home-cooked meals at the dining table with seating for four. All drinking water at the property comes from the well onsite.
With patio door window and three large roof windows, guests are sure to take in the stunning forest views as they relax after a day exploring the rugged terrain or lull off to sleep listening to the tranquil howl of the sled dogs. Glampers may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the infamous Northern Lights.
The energy at the property comes from 16 solar panels mounted on the roof of the homestead. There are 24 batteries in which this solar energy is stored. On cloudy days, we have a propane generator that produces the energy used and stored. Propane, having a by-product of water, lessens the carbon footprint. The hosts ask that guests help to conserve energy wherever possible. There are no phone lines in the area, however the property does receive a boosted cell phone signal from Canada. If AT&T is guests carrier, they will enjoy the ability to make phone calls freely, with no International charges, however an extra fee is charged for International data through AT&T, if it can be received at the properties location. Our phone is available for emergencies only.
This rustic retreat has everything guests need for a delightful stay including quality linens and towels. Guests will be able to pack light as there is a washer and a dryer to keep all belongings clean, for an additional fee. The private bathroom is located right next to the guest suite in the host's off-grid homestead. As there is no Wi-Fi and minimal cell phone coverage, there is a phone available to make emergency calls.
