This is ski-country where, in the winter, guests of all experience and ability can take to the slopes, and novices can head eastwards to Silverton Mountain Ski Area for a lesson or two. Alternatively, in wildflower season, visitors can embark upon their adventures on foot or bicycle, or discover the area's riches on a mild or wild rafting tour if they are feeling particularly daring.

For those looking for a sample of the region's story, The Animas Museum is located within a mile, where the history and culture of the area are brought to life. Guests have the opportunity to learn about the local wildlife and how to identify it on a Bird Mentor tour, while the best view is found on the San Juan Skyway - a picturesque loop that takes about seven hours to drive.
