This backcountry hut is located in the San Juan Mountains, Colorado, and is perfect for a ski getaway. It can accommodate up to six guests, with two bedrooms and one bathroom, though it is only functional in the summer. In the winter, guests have access to an outhouse. The first bedroom has a double bed and bedside table, and the second bedroom has two single beds. In the bathroom and outhouse, guests will find a toilet and a sink. Linens and towels are provided.
In the cozy living room are armchairs and a rustic, wood-burning stove that provides warmth to the entire building and the people inside it. The fully-equipped kitchen comes with a propane stove and over, and there is a table at which guests can dine.
The piers de resistance undoubtedly comes in the form of the breathtaking terrain and gorgeous ski slopes that lie on the other side of the property's front door, which guests are also able to admire from the wooden porch at the back of the hut.
The hut is heated by a wood-burning stove, while gas lighting and lanterns fill the space with light. However, the hut does not have electricity or Wi-Fi. There is hot water and parking at the property, but only in the summer. In the winter, visitors should park on the east side of the summit of Red Mountain Pass, from which they can hike or ski one mile to the site. Of course, the greatest feature that the hut has to offer is the sensational landscape that serves as its idyllic garden.

This is ski-country where, in the winter, guests of all experience and ability can take to the slopes, and novices can head eastwards to Silverton Mountain Ski Area for a lesson or two. Alternatively, in wildflower season, visitors can embark upon their adventures on foot or bicycle, or discover the area's riches on a mild or wild rafting tour if they are feeling particularly daring.
For those looking for a sample of the region's story, The Animas Museum is located within a mile, where the history and culture of the area are brought to life. Guests have the opportunity to learn about the local wildlife and how to identify it on a Bird Mentor tour, while the best view is found on the San Juan Skyway - a picturesque loop that takes about seven hours to drive. -
