Mesa Verde National Park
8 miles straight-line distance14 kilometers straight-line distanceThis glamping site is located on a ranch resort in Mancos, Colorado, where it is surrounded by a majestic landscape of wide-open meadows, pine woodlands, and rugged mountains. As they go hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, ATV riding, or whitewater rafting through the surrounding area, they may pass through grasslands, wetlands, shrublands, and forests full of aspen, ponderosa pine, Rocky Mountain juniper, Douglas fir, and Gambel oak. Within these habitats, they may see black bears, coyotes, wild turkeys, mule deer, porcupines, Abert's squirrels, ospreys, hawks, turkey vultures, and hummingbirds.
Right next to the site, guests will find Mancos State Park, which is centered around Jackson Gulch Reservoir, which offers 216 acres of water surface area for recreation. To the north, the park blends into San Juan National Forest, which covers 1.8 million acres that contain much more than just forests, with areas ranging from high desert mesas and meadows to canyons and towering alpine peaks. San Juan National Forest, in turn, merges into Rio Grande National Forest and an array of other national forests that stretch all the way north past Cheyenne, Wyoming, and all the way south to Santa Fe, New Mexico, encompassing millions upon millions of acres of pristine wilderness along the way.
To the south, guests will also find Mesa Verde National Park, which is home to the country's largest archaeological preserve, with over 4,300 sites—including 600 well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. The ranch resort provides guests with everything they will need during their stay, but if they wish to go off-site for dining, shopping, or other in-town activities, they can head to Mancos, Cortez, or Durango, which are only 10, 30, and 40 minutes away, respectively. In Cortez and Durango, they will find the nearest domestic airports, while the nearest international airport is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which is about four hours to the south.Activities near Mancos

Guests can choose from an extensive range of activity programming during their stay at the ranch resort. They can go on guided hikes into the nearby mountains or the flatter forested areas surrounding the ranch. For horseback riding, guests will be assigned a horse at the beginning of their stay, have chances to practice their skills every day, and go on half-day or all-day rides toward the end of their stay. For mountain biking, guests will find an extensive network of trails at Phil's World. Guests will find also trails for ATV riding and snowmobiling in the surrounding area. Hundreds of multi-use trails can be found in San Juan National Forest, which lies just to the north of the site.
For whitewater rafting, guests can make their way down the Animas River in nearby Durango. For fishing, guests can head over to Jackson Gulch Reservoir, which is only a five-minute walk away. When the water level is high enough, guests can also go fly fishing at Bear Creek as part of an all-day horseback ride/fishing expedition.
Guests can practice archery at the on-site archery range, with a counselor available to provide lessons if needed. They can also practice their aim at the on-site skeet shooting area. The site hosts an adult versus children baseball game every Thursday during the summer. Guests can also play paintball and laser tag at an on-site, old Western town-themed course.
Counselors are available to supervise children while they pursue the above activities, providing parents with free time, if they want it. During the ranch resort's adult-only sessions (the week of May the 14th through the 21st and the month of September), there are more laid-back activities on offer, such as cooking classes, yoga sessions, and horseback riding lessons. -
