Idaho's panhandle has so much to offer, guests will only wish they had more time to enjoy the lake city area in all its glory. The city itself, just 15 minutes away, has plenty of shops for some retail therapy, art galleries, and restaurants to try out. For travelers looking for more thrills, the rollercoasters of Silverwood Theme Park are half an hour away. Alternatively, they can take to the slopes of Silver Mountain and Schweitzer Mountain resorts for skiing, snowboarding, and sledding in the winter months. There are hundreds of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails around the lake itself and also in the Coeur d'Alene National Forest. The lake offers watersports for most of the year and is great for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. The huge lake, with over 109 miles of shoreline, also provides some great fishing opportunities to catch some Chinook or Kokanee Salmon, smallmouth and largemouth bass, and northern pike in its crystal clear waters. Golfers can also have their fun on the many local courses in the area, including the Couer d'Alene Resort course with its famous floating 14th hole. There really is something for everyone!
