Cabin in Jackson, ME

New

Tucked deep into a 30-acre forest via a meandering path, this is an intentional, off-grid escape for those seeking tranquility, meaning, and connection. This quiet space invites you to step out of the day to day, slow down, and reconnect with nature’s rhythm.

The centerpiece of this one-room cabin is a dramatic wall of windows that floods the open living space with natural light and offers immersive views of the forest. Here, you will find the freedom to reset and the space to breathe deeply.

The Space: A quiet, simple, 120 sq ft one-room forest sanctuary.
Capacity: Comfortably sleeps up to 2 guests.
Ideal For: Quiet creative escapes, romantic getaways, or restorative solo retreats.

Intentional Off-Grid Design
Enjoy complete comfort without sacrificing the deep connection of an off-grid experience:
-->The Bed: Queen-size gel memory foam mattress, organic cotton sheets, and warm blankets.
-->Kitchenette: Single-burner butane stove, classic tea kettle, complimentary coffee, tea, and tableware.
-->Conscious Water: Marine Whale Gusher foot-pump faucet with 5 gallons of filtered water and a greywater basin.
-->Fresh Linens: Clean towels and face cloths provided for warm, old-fashioned sponge baths.
-->Staying Cool: Battery-powered fan included for warmer summer nights.
-->Keyless Check-In: Your unique automated door code will be provided prior to arrival.

Eco-Friendly Composting Toilet
To protect the delicate ecology of our forest, the cabin features a clean and completely odorless composting toilet:
-->Indoor Convenience: It is entirely self-contained inside the cottage. If you need to use it in the middle of the night, you don't even have to put on shoes or fully wake yourself up—everything is right there in the warmth of the cabin so you can drift right back to sleep.
-->Comfort: Looks and feels just like using a standard toilet, simply without the water.
-->How It Works: Just add a few scoops of sawdust (sourced from a local apple-ladder sawmill) after each use.

What to Know Before You Pack
-->The Walk-In: Park your car and walk your gear in via a forest trail (approximately 5-8 min walk). Pack light or use backpacks. We are happy to provide support with a Gorilla cart if needed.
-->Power & Ambiance: Lit by the warm glow of battery-powered LED flame lamps. A portable Jackery power station is also provided to charge devices.
-->Outdoor Comfort: Pack bug spray! We highly recommend bringing a Thermacell device to keep seasonal Maine mosquitoes at bay.
-->Dog Policy: We are happy to welcome up to one dog for a flat $50 pet fee. To protect our forest ecosystem and ensure a seamless stay, dogs must remain on a leash outdoors and are not permitted on the bed—we also highly recommend active tick prevention for your pet's comfort and safety.

The Land, Privacy, & Community
Our 30-acre forest is a shared ecosystem, home to us and our Sunrise Cabin guests:
-->Your Private Cabin: Tucked away for maximum peace and privacy.
-->A Living, Working Property: You will be staying on a working property. You will see us out and about developing our permaculture gardens, chopping wood, building forest paths, foraging, et al.
-->Thoughtful Hospitality: Your time here is your own. While we love welcoming and sharing stories with our guests, we deeply respect your desire to unplug and honor your need for space. However, you are never truly isolated; we are nearby and always happy to share local insider tips or offer a helping hand with whatever you need.
-->Parking & Access: We provide a dedicated, clearly marked parking space for you at the end of the driveway near the forest entrance. Off-Grid Forest Cabin with Scenic Window Views & Charm in Jackson, Maine
