On the farm there are currently four milking fresian sheep, five year old lambs, ten new born lambs, two romney cross sheep, three milking nubian cross goats, two year old goats, and three doelings. The milking animals provide the farm and its people with sweet milk and constant entertainment (such as bounding over fences and nibbling on the garden greens).
Breakfast is included in the fee but if other meals are desired the host will gladly provide lunch and dinner at additional cost. The meals are healthy, farm fresh, and made with love in the little kitchen overlooking the back porch. Lunch costs $17 per person and dinner costs $30 per person. Guests can get their lunch bagged if they plan to venture to parts unknown, or they can share lunch with the hosts on the back porch. For dinner guests can join the family dinner either on the back porch or around the fire, or if they would prefer some solitude the host can deliver the dinner to the cabin.
This quaint and cozy cabin is nestled on an organic farm and creamery in Whitefield, Maine. The family that runs the farm has been doing so since 2000, and takes great pride in making their lifestyle and farm practices as sustainable as possible. The owners offer the cabin hoping that whoever rents it, however temporarily, will have a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and take a moment to indulge in simple pleasures.
This farm offers glampers the chance to get hands on with farming. There are workshops that teach all of the basic principles and recipes for making fresh cheese. Guests will start by milking the goats and then slowly move through the process of cheese making. Throughout the weekend glampers will learn to make chevre, mozzarella, ricotta, yogurt, and a hard cheese.
Guests can also indulge in the cooking workshop where they will learn about farming, gardening, and the process of growing and harvesting ingredients. They will then take the fresh ingredients and learn how to prepare them into delicious, family-friendly dishes.
In addition to the workshops, a leisurely walk around the grounds of this property is the perfect way to spend an afternoon and the beautiful natural surroundings provide the perfect backdrop.
