Get ready for outdoor adventures at Haystack Mountain, where hiking trails up to breathtaking, scenic views of southern Vermont await. The start of the trail is located 15 minutes from the parking lot, and the trail itself takes approximately an hour to an hour and 30 minutes. Be advised that the last 20 minutes of the hike are on steep terrain. Other outdoor sites to visit and discover include the Mettawee River, Merck Forest and Farmland Center, the Delaware and Hudson Rail Trail, Lake Saint Catherine State Park, the Mettawee Valley Community Center, and Pawlet Mountain.

Considered an artist town by many, see the local artists in action at Indian Hill Imageworks, Lake's Lampshades, and Green Hill Studio. For a meal or a drink out on the town, try one of the local West Pawlet establishments, such as Scotties' Coffee Shop, Manleys Rt. 4 Restaurant, JAX Food & Games, and Pickel Barrel Nightclub. The Barn Restaurant and Tavern in Pawlet is another great place to stop, and glampers can take a cheese souvenir home—if they can wait that long to dig in!—from Consider Bardwell Farm in West Pawlet and Southwind Farmstead Cheese in North Rupert.
