Intimate and Secluded Rainforest Retreat near Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii
This secluded rainforest retreat is located in Volcano Village, Hawaii, and can accommodate two guests. There is one attractive bedroom and one full bathroom. The bedroom has a spacious queen-size bed. Five huge picture windows offer glampers incredible views and sliding glass doors lead out onto the back deck of the property. In the bright and modern bathroom, guests will find a toilet, a sink, and a shower and bathtub combination. Freshly-laundered linens and towels are provided by the host.
In the welcoming living room, guests will find a comfy sofa and two matching armchairs, as well as an inviting gas stove. For entertainment, there is a flat-screen television, with a DVD player. The fully-equipped kitchen comes with a refrigerator, a toaster oven, a stove, a microwave, and a coffeemaker, along with plenty of handy cookware, dishes, and utensils. Meals and drinks can be enjoyed at the dining table, which is located next to the kitchen area and boasts lovely treetop views. Other amenities in the cottage include heating, an iron and board, a hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi access.
Outside, there are two decking areas, with relaxing patio furniture, as well as a lush lawn area, surrounded by native Hawaiian Tree Ferns.
This lovely cottage has some superb facilities on offer. Those arriving by car will be pleased to find a covered carport, just a few steps from the front door. Outside, there is an open veranda part-way around the cottage, as well as a back deck to relax and enjoy the late afternoon sun.
The cottage is located at over 3,000-feet above sea-level, so the weather is much cooler than in other parts of the island. For that reason, the property is heated throughout, and there is a cozy gas stove in the lounge, for added comfort. For entertainment, the property comes with a flat-screen television and a DVD player, and there is Wi-Fi access for those who need to stay connected. In addition, guests will have the use of ironing facilities, and there is a hairdryer available in the cottage.

Just a five-minute drive away, guests will arrive at the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with its red-hot flowing lava, and smoking calderas, making for a unique experience.
Around a five-minute drive from the property is Volcano Village, which is friendly and colorful. There is a small convenience store (with a larger supermarket 20 minutes away in Keaau), a gas station, an art gallery, and several places to eat. For guests arriving by plane, the property is located 35 minutes from Hilo Airport, and two hours from Kona Airport. Most travelers come to this area to visit the breathtaking Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. At its heart, are the Kīlauea and Mauna Loa active volcanoes. Guests can take the Crater Rim Drive, which passes steam vents and Sulphur banks. Many other fun activities are on offer in the park. Visitors can hike, bike, and spot local wildlife, including fascinating birds, carnivorous caterpillars, the largest dragonfly in the United States, endangered sea turtles, and bats.
Keen golfers will find a course just 10 minutes from the property, at the Volcano Golf and Country Club. This 18-hole course is one of the most unusual in the world, as it sits on the rim of the active Kilauea volcanic crater. It is situated 4,000 feet above the sea, with sweeping vistas of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, which are both occasionally snow-capped in the winter.
In the village of Volcano, there are several fun things to do. This region is the orchid capital of the world, and a short drive from the property, glampers will come to the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens. Guests can stop in and admire the many beautiful tropical orchids and can take incredible pictures of this photogenic flower. Also within easy reach of the cottage is the Volcano Winery, the most southern winery in the United States, which specializes in creating tropical blends. This is a good place for glampers to pick up an unusual souvenir. Every Sunday, Volcano Village plays host to a superb farmer's market, which is a social event, as well as a place to find fresh flowers, fruits, herbs, vegetables, locally-made food, baked goods, and more.
