The yurt includes Turkish cotton robes and organic bath products, provided by the host.
At this property, guests have access to mineral rich water from every tap. Stainless steel water bottles are also provided for guests to fill, in preparation for a hike or a romantic stroll. There is also a Japanese cedar soaking tub and communal Accueil (guest living room and library "in the woods"). The picturesque scenery provides a perfect opportunity to paint or take photos. Art supplies can be provided for guests upon request. The facility also has a private guest living room (the Accueil) with a fireplace, books, board games, sofas, and a lovely screened dining porch available for those rainy days. The Accueil is an insulated gazebo with Nicaraguan-tiled floors. It is the perfect place to come back to after a long hike or long walk in the gardens. Guests can also choose from a variety of teas that are available to enjoy.
There are many dining areas on the ranch, all in different locations, where guests can eat their dinner and appreciate the beautiful scenery. The legendary chef on-site can cook up a treat, live in the outdoor kitchen, for guests to enjoy in the garden cafe. There is also fresh greens juiced daily, for those who like to be healthy. If glampers would like to go out to dinner, there are plenty of restaurants just 20 to 30 minutes off site. Glamping couples can also indulge in some s'mores around a campfire, most mornings and evenings. Regular bonfires, with blankets and loungers, are held by the pond.

For 2019, the kitchen has changed! The hosts are serving only the nutrient dense unprocessed fresh organic foods as prescribed by Dr. Ray Peat (a brilliant biologist and nutrition expert whom they have come to embrace, and now look forward to sharing with guests). Admittedly, it's a bit contrarian and some of the foods may not suit some guests' restrictions. The hosts will be serving 100% grass fed beef or lamb Saturday nights (they alternate weekends so guests should inquire before booking if they are not flexible on this).
Vegetarians are easily accommodated and should specify upon booking. Dairy-free diets and vegans can no longer be accommodated. For gluten-free diets, other than sourdough bread offered at breakfast and oats in the breakfast granolas, the meals are 100% grain free. Guests should note all dairy and meat is from grass-fed cows, all organic and of the highest quality! The hosts use only use organic coconut oil or ghee for cooking, olive oil is used too but never to cook in. Upon request, the hosts will be happy to share a complete list of all of the ingredients used in the kitchen.
Daily breakfast board 9:00 – 11:00 am: organic coffee/tea, organic juice, organic fruits, ranch made organic granola, organic yogurt, pasture hard boiled eggs, whole milk, butter, cheese (all organic from grass-fed cows), ranch made cashew milk, sourdough toast, and ranch made jam.
Friday night dinners are not offered on the ranch and restaurants are a 30-minute drive away. Hence for Friday check-in, guests will often have dinner before arrival, the check-in window is extended on Friday to 9:00 pm for that purpose.
For guests not planning to dine at the ranch on Saturday night, there are several restaurants the hosts recommend in their guidebook. The same would apply to stays that include a Sunday night when dinner is not offered on the ranch, as well as Friday nights. For guests who prefer to not leave the ranch, there is another option. The hosts have a dedicated guest refrigerator to store snacks, prepared lunches, and prepared dinners. Guests should keep in mind the hosts do not make the kitchen available for preparing/cooking meals. They offer the use of a microwave for reheating.
Beverages for purchase are in the guest refrigerator and prices are posted there for local wine, beer, and soda. Ice and filtered water and teas and coffee are always available (at no charge).
The Saturday night menu is $65 per person, by advance reservation only. Soup (Sopa Aguada du Jour
) is served at 7:30 pm and the plates to follow include Tian of Glazed Aubergines of roasted eggplant, tomato, onions, and ranch herbs, a dusting of Parmesan; guajillo birria; served atop grilled sourdough and grass-fed cow’s milk cheese (sans sourdough as per request) and Wagu Steak Strips of 100% grass-fed Kobe beef, Gratin Dauphinois of potatoes, garlic, and cream, and a French green salad of arugula, shallots, the ranch oranges, and a balsamic vinaigrette. The dessert is roasted apples warm with ranch made cashew coconut ice cream.
Location + Surroundings
This location is a perfect romantic getaway for couples to take a break from busy urban life. It's an exclusive, quiet, and private spot to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, or a honeymoon that guests won't be able to find anywhere else along the Californian coast. All the accommodations are distanced from each other, to give glampers all the privacy they need.
Lovely 400-year-old trees, along with orchards of avocado trees, surround this beautiful ranch. Nestled just 20 minutes inland from the gorgeous California coastline, it's extremely private and tranquil. The ranch itself is such a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty nature offers, and many guests never venture beyond it, despite the nearby wine country (25 minutes to the very heart of it, a scenic drive all the way), pristine beaches, great local seafood bistros, and the nation's iconic Hearst Castle.
