The park primarily exists for the protection of white-tailed deer, but the area has a wide variety of other species, including bats, wild turkeys, bears, and various birds of prey. The Colville National Forest is 1.1 million acres and was first shaped over 10,000 years ago by glaciers in the Ice Age. It offers hundreds of miles of hiking trails, as well as opportunities for fishing, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, climbing, off-road vehicles, and winter activities such as cross-country and downhill skiing and snowmobiling. Spokane, known for its parks and Spokane Falls, is easily accessible by car. -
