The village of Langley by the Sea is the place to be on Whidbey Island during all four seasons. Just a four-minute walk from the cottage, guests will find five art galleries with beautiful originals, antiques, and a variety of shops with tempting collectibles. Sweet Monas Chocolates offers a wonderful selection of handmade treats and delicious gelato. Langley's antique stores have lots of goodies and antique furniture. "In the Country" is a shop with a very tasteful selection of almost everything. A visit to the farmer's market on the weekends is a must. For after dinner entertainment, guests can take in a performance at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. It's about 120 steps from the cottage. The Clyde Theater in town shows fairly current movies for only $6.00.

Guests can taste the local wine at the Whidbey Island Winery on Langley Road about a mile away. The tasting room at Bayview Corner and several others are great spots to try local wines too. Greenbank Farm, about 20 minutes up the road from the cottage, serves a delicious selection of wines and liqueurs. Guests can spend an afternoon at Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens and enjoy hundreds of varieties of flowers and colors. There are opportunities to play tennis at South Whidbey High School nearby or at Dan Porter Park on Deer Lake Road.
