Dauphin Island

Dauphin Island is a charming small southern town with a relaxed atmosphere and delicious local seafood. It is also home to miles of pristine white sand beaches, a fascinating history, and top-notch fishing. Many refer to Dauphin Island as the “Sunset Capital of Alabama,” so make sure you catch one of the spectacular sunsets during your stay. The island itself is only fourteen miles long, and less than two miles wide at the widest point, but despite its diminutive size, it has plenty to offer. Check out the historic Fort Gaines, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Audubon Bird Sanctuary and numerous public golf courses. The area is also ideal for bird-watching, as has been named as one of the top four places in North America to view bird migrations in spring.
