There are also opportunities to take an airboat out onto the swamp, which is a unique experience that shouldn't be missed! Kayaking and canoeing at Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area is a great way to spend time out on the water.
Guests have the opportunity to explore the historic grounds of an original sugarcane plantation and witness currently farmed sugarcane fields. Admissions to the exhibits at the adjacent property that includes Oak Alley's Greek Revival mansion built in 1839 and exhibits that explore slavery, sugarcane, the Civil War, and those who were once inhabitants of the plantation. Cottage guests may purchase tour tickets from the ticket booth upon arrival, which is open between 9 am and 9 pm.
