Pikeville

Named after explorer Zebulon Pike, Pikeville, Tennessee nestles amid the rugged scenery of the Cumberland Plateau’s Sequatchie Valley. Near the Fall Creek Falls State Park, Pikeville makes an excellent base from which to explore the region. The falls themselves are the highest in the eastern USA and the surrounding park offers rock formations, dense woodlands, varied wildlife, and numerous hiking and biking trails with which to explore them. The park also has the second highest density of caves of any protected land in the eastern USA and also offers kayaking and canoeing on its lakes. For those wishing to explore further afield, the start of the scenic Cherohala Skyway scenic route is located relatively close by in Tellico Plains, taking visitors right into the heart of the mighty Blue Ridge Mountains. To the north lies Knoxville, the nearest large town with its shops and varied music scene.
