Texas Glamping | Cadillac Ranch, Amarillo
This camp features stunning views of the sunsets on the high plains; beautiful and unique hiking opportunities; convenient access to a local wildlife preserve and amenities to make your glamping stay at Mariposa one to remember. You will remain close to all amenities but enjoy the remote quiet of 650 acres of gorgeous high-plains.
Just east and south of the Mariposa you will find shopping to include a Mall, Target, Barnes & Noble, Khols, Sams, and a host of other shops. There are also restaurants to enjoy. Everything from fast food (Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Starbucks) to more casual/upscale casual dining experiences such as The Plaza, Saltgrass, Longhorn, Applebee's, and many more.
From I40 you have quick easy access to Cadillac Ranch, a local, legendary treasurer. Amarillo is full of parks and a brand new Pool at Tompson park that has water slides, a lazy river, and other water fun to entertain the family.
The Space:
Our property is conveniently located right of I-40 and a main road (Soncy). However, the sites are located on a remote section of a 650 acre land trust preserve.
Guest Access:
Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!
Your campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed (see photos for the exact setup). The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night.
Group Camping: We welcome campers with larger parties, but the standard setup only includes the canvas tent plus the additional pop-up dome tent. You may need and are encouraged to bring additional camping gear of your own if you plan on camping with a large party.
Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation. You may have as many campers in your party up to the maximum limit that is set for the listing, but please note that the only bed provided as a standard amenity is the one set up inside the canvas tent.
Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.
Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.
Beverages and S'Mores
You will find complimentary beverages (adult and non-adult) as well as S'mores kits in the refrigerator at the Community Center.
Board Games
There are a variety of board games in the Community Center for your enjoyment.
Lantern/Cell Phone Charger
Each tent is supplied with two solar-charged lanterns to provide light in the evenings as well as a way to charge your cell phone or other electronic devices.
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While this host does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in, and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property.
If there is evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper’s property, you may be charged a cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!
Other Things to Note:
Mariposa is a Land Trust on the High Plains in the Texas Panhandle. We enjoy and respect all of the beauty and dangers that may bring with it including wildlife, reptiles, and a few fun ranch animals.
Please pack out or dispose of all your trash. Don't light fires outside the pits. Comply with burn bans and restrictions.
Make yourself at home in the community center building and its more modern amenities.
