A mid-century architectural masterpieces designed by Don Duncan, where guests enjoy seclusion and relaxation on a wooded hilltop with views for miles. Downtown Commercial Avenue is less than 5 minutes away for dining & shopping.

Sleeps 15 if you book the entire retreat with the home next door. See Mid-Century Modern Loft and Hollywood Glam Suite in my other listings.

The entrance greets you with a fun aqua wall featuring vintage photographs from the house. Turn left and you are in one room, with a conversation pit grouped in front of the working gas fireplace. The walls are all stunning original wood paneling, with a built-in corner desk and bookshelves full of games and vintage newspapers & magazines. A tulip dinette set for 4 is the perfect spot to enjoy these.

On the opposite side of the foyer is the second living room with a gorgeous curved sectional and Heywood Wakefield dining table that seats 6. Enjoy the TV with streaming services and DVD player. Both living areas feature walls of floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the hilltop views.

The kitchen is pure Brady Bunch fabulousness, with aqua countertops, gleaming wood cabinets and a fun diner banquette. But it's all modern functionality, with new appliances (except the original Chambers cooktop, in perfect working order) and fully stocked with all the cooking supplies and dining ware you need. Next to the kitchen is a half bath.

The bedroom wing of the house features three guest suites, each with a privacy lock and en-suite bathrooms. The Sinatra Suite is the largest, with gorgeous wood-paneled walls, vaulted and beamed ceilings, and an incredible, huge blue-tile bathroom featuring a vanity table and tons of closet space. Please note: the bathroom in this suite has a bathtub only, with handheld sprayer.

The suite features soft blue walls, a built-in desk with shelves, and a blue-tiled bathroom with tub/shower combination, as well as its own private patio. The Hemingway Suite with its literary theme has paneled walls, a built-in desk with shelves, and a brown-tiled bathroom with tub/shower combination.

All bedrooms feature king-size beds with top-of-the-line gel posturepedic mattresses, luxury linens, stained concrete floors, televisions with streaming services, generous closet space and bathtub/shower combos.

The entire house is a true stunner, with many original 1958 original features like original cove lighting & fixtures, push-button switches, colorful vintage tiles, scores of craftsman built-ins, and an intercom system...all in immaculate condition.

All of this sits on 3+ acres filled with towering oak trees and offering amazing city skyline views (the nighttime lights are magical). Sunrises & sunsets are stunning, as is the clear country night sky, perfect for stargazing. The expansive front terrace is lovely for the views or bird & wildlife watching while enjoying some coffee or wine. A back patio provides an additional place to relax, with a gas firepit, tables and chairs, and an inviting hammock. A collection of outdoor recreation such as cornhole, darts, ladderball, connect-4 and Giant Jenga provide entertainment.

The location is very private The effect is seclusion & relaxation, while being minutes from anything you need in town.

There is plenty of parking in front of the house, as well as two covered spaces in the open garage.

I live off-site - guests have complete privacy, but I am available should there be any questions or anything needed. I have a local manager and I'm fully available by telephone or message/email for anything you might need. The local person is on call should there be anything that requires immediate, on-site assistance. A guidebook to the property and the adorable town of Coleman is in the house.

You've heard of Marfa, right? Don't want to drive all the way out there? Coleman is destined to be the next Marfa (but, shh, let's keep the secret!). This cute small town is the perfect Hill Country / West Texas getaway. It's undergoing a renaissance with a wine bar (second on the way), fantastic restaurants and unique boutique stores (seriously, the dining and shopping have been written up in magazines, including Texas Monthly). It's also home to a fab mid-century modern store with high-quality pieces and a vintage vinyl shop, and longtime standbys like the Owl Drugstore, with its old-fashioned soda fountain (the second oldest in Texas, serving since 1923) and the best burgers around! The main street, Commercial Avenue, is only two minutes down the road from Stardust.

Nearby outdoor recreation and sportsmanship is plentiful, with 6 major lakes including O.H. Ivie, Hord's Creek, & Lake Brownwood State Park. The area is known as the "Hunting Capital of Texas."

The retreat itself is on an extremely quiet, private residential street that sits high up on a hill overlooking the town of Coleman. The street is a dead-end road with only two other homes - the next-door Loft House that is also part of the property, and one other private home past us at the end of the street. The property is spread over three-and-a-half rolling, wooded acres; therefore the entire property is very peaceful, quiet and private.

Some of the top spots to check out around town are:

* The Owl Drugstore & Grill (second-oldest soda fountain in Texas!)
* Rancho Loma Vineyards RLV Wine Bar
* Rancho Pizzeria
* Black Cur Steak
* Bonneville Mid-Century Antiques & Vinyl Record Shop
* Prickly Pear Boutique & Cafe
* Sinclair Bakery
* Cactus Coffee
* Lake Coleman, O.H. Ivie & Hord's Creek

You need a car. There is plenty of parking in the open 2-car garage and the parking area in front of the house.

Absolutely no smoking inside the house! If any evidence of smoking is found, guest will be charged an additional $150 cleaning fee plus any damages from smoke or burn marks.

We do allow pets with an additional fee, and reserve the right to approve or not. If you wish to stay with a pet please send an inquiry message with information about your pet for approval BEFORE booking.

We DO NOT give refunds for inclement weather, travel advisories or personal reasons for cancellations. If you have a concern about any issue affecting your trip, we suggest you purchase travel insurance.

There is an additional twin-size rollaway bed (with thick, comfy mattress) and a baby crib available for a child or additional guest. PLEASE REQUEST EITHER OF THESE THINGS BEFORE YOUR STAY.
I am a huge MCM aficionado, and live in a mid-century home myself. When I bought these houses, I realized a dream of not only having such amazing, authentic MCM homes, but also of being able to share their treasures with others. My goal is to create a peaceful retreat in this lovely, revitalizing town of Coleman, in a truly unique setting. I have personal ties to the town — my mother's side of the family hails from neighboring Brownwood, and my mom lived in Coleman for a few years as a child in the 50s. I chose the name "Stardust" because it was my grandparents' song.
If ever the term "time capsule" were to be used to describe a house, it would be appropriate of the two properties that make up. To stroll through the property is to step almost seamlessly into the 1950s, as if you were stepping inside a museum. This incredible home has largely been maintained in its original architectural condition. From the 1958 Chambers cooktop and aqua formica countertops in the kitchen, to the grass cloth covered sliding doors in the hallway and the whole-house intercom system, to the colorful vintage tilework in the bathrooms — the entire property exhibits a craftsmanship and attention to detail no longer seen today.

I purchased this property because of my love of all things mid-century, and because I have personal ties to the area (my grandparents and mother lived in Coleman when my mother was a child).

The House was built in 1958 by local jeweler, Earle Smith, whose family jewelry shop at 114 S. Commercial Avenue (now Bucketheads shop) operated for more than 80 years before closing in 2017. The Smith children grew up in this home, which remained in the family until Mrs. Smith passed away in 2005.
