Mt. Vernon

Starting as a settlement near Fanning Springs, Mount Vernon, Texas became more established after the Texas Revolution. After a few years of growth, it officially become Mount Vernon in 1875. For a variety of outdoor recreational activities or somewhere local to go for a picnic, head to Little Creek Park or Lake Cypress Springs. Walleye are stocked here so anglers can go for them, black bass, or catfish. To the south is Lake Bob Sandlin, another place to cool off and escape the hot summer sun. Lake Bob Sandlin State Park is a lakeside forest featuring abundant birds and wildlife along with trails great for hiking or biking. Located on the outskirts of Dallas, this town is easy to get to for both city dwellers and those flying in from out of state. Head to Mount Vernon, Texas for an epic glamping adventure.
