The number one attraction in Round Top is without question the Round Top Antiques Fair. It is held twice a year in October and April, but vendors often come and begin their shows before the official event. Aside from the fair, Round Top offers plenty to do year-round. This small town is full of charm and is loaded with historic buildings such as the small schoolhouse, the William Lockhart Clayton House, and Menke House. Henkel Square Market is seven acres of unique shops and historic buildings set among beautiful gardens and groves of oak trees. Even when the fair is not going on, Round Top does not disappoint in eclectic shopping opportunities as it is full of antiques and boutiques such as Junk Gypsies, Old World Antieks, Townsend Provisions, Clutter, Humble Donkey Studio, and Lark.
This idyllic little town is the perfect setting for events and is also home to a six-week classical music festival in June and July. The breathtaking concert hall on “Festival Hill” is one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Texas. It is truly an architectural masterpiece and makes for an incredible venue for listening to music. Additionally, guests may catch a performance of Shakespeare at Winedale, a program put on by the University of Texas.
Those wanting to get outdoors can enjoy area hiking spots and swimming and fishing at Lake Fayette or Somerville Lake. There is also golfing nearby at Frisch Auf Valley Country Club.
