Hill Country State Natural Area is just a stone’s throw from the town, easily reached within minutes, with many miles of hiking and horseback riding trails to explore and enjoy. Tarpley is mostly known for Mac & Ernie’s Restaurant - people come from all over Hill Country to eat here, so be sure to stop by at least once! The nearby city of Bandera is just 20 minutes away and offers lots of interesting local history. Known worldwide as the Cowboy Capital, Bandera is home to the Frontier Times Museum, Bandera Natural History Museum, and over 200 species of birds.
