Relaxation really is the name of the game here, and numerous excellent beaches are within easy reach of the property. Sanibel, Captive, Boca Grande, and Cayo Costa Islands are easily accessed by boat or car, and there are ferries, water taxis, and tour boats available from Pine Island for exploring the surrounding paradise. In Cayo Costa, visitors can spot manatees and pods of dolphins in the waters around the 2,426-acre park, as well as a spectacular assortment of birds. Closer to the property, the St. James Creek Preserve is also a haven for nature lovers, as they can see the native bald eagles, which have been nesting there for over 20 years.
Guests can explore the waters by kayak, and there’s no better place to do this than the Great Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail, which is a 190-mile marked canoe and kayak trail that meanders through the coastal waters and inland tributaries of Lee County. It attracts everyone from first-time kayakers to advanced paddlers and is home to abundant marine life, shorebirds, and crustaceans. Another popular water-based pastime is fishing. On Pine Island, glampers will find outfitters and boat charters, and it’s also possible to fish from the local piers and jetties.
Less than four miles away, in Pine Island Center, there is a huge heated community swimming pool, which is open year-round and offers day passes for a very small fee. There are also tennis courts close by. Cycling is a great way to see the island., and the host provides two bikes for guests to use, with further bikes available to rent from nearby.
Golfers will be able to get their fix at the Alden Pines country club, which boasts 18 holes in a beautiful, natural setting, and a friendly, relaxed environment. As well as this, there is the world’s longest mini golf hole on offer 20 minutes away, at the Tropical Breeze Fun Park, in Cape Coral.
Fantastic shopping and dining is only a stone’s throw away. The local area has countless unique shops, and gourmet restaurants and, for a wider choice, guests need only travel to downtown Cape Coral, or Fort Myers, both of which are within 25 miles of the property.
