Yonah

Yonah is a charming small town with incredible access to the stunning Yonah Mountain, a mountain ridge located in the heart of the fantastic Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in the foothills of Georgia’s southern Appalachian Mountains. The name Yonah comes from the Cherokee word for Bear. This region offers extraordinary hiking, with incredible panoramic views, steep drop-offs, and a tranquility only possible in the wilderness. Indeed, the Yonah Mountain Trail is considered one of North Georgia’s best and most popular hikes. There is also excellent rock climbing on the numerous rocky outcrops in this area. The Unicoi State Park and Anna Ruby Falls are also close by and well worth visiting.
