This treetop getaway is located in the tiny town of Salem, South Carolina. Salem is characterized by nature and wildlife and offers gorgeous scenery and lots of outdoor adventures. This quiet retreat makes an ideal base for exploring the beautiful 9,000 acre Lake Jocassee and the surrounding area. The lake is situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains and its waters remain clear and cool all year long due to the many rivers that flow into it. There are a number of waterfalls that tumble into the river, many ideal for cliff jumping.

Glampers can easily access the water with a short walk and a longer hike will lead to Devil's Fork State Park just one mile away. Devils Fork State Park is part of the Sumter National Forest and sits on the shores of Lake Jocassee. The park can be accessed via the Cherokee Scenic Highway. There are several small towns surrounding Salem, many only five to 10 minutes by car. There are few restaurants nearby should glampers wish to enjoy a nice meal out.

A short walk up the trail leads to fishing and just down the road, there is lake access for boating. A hike up the hill leads to the lake where glampers can cool off with a dip amidst the gorgeous views of the mountains.

Glampers can head to Devil's Fork State Park on foot or by car to hike the trails and explore the endless waterfalls. The park is the only public access point to Lake Jocassee. Guided tours, boat rentals, kayaking and canoeing get visitors out on the water while swimming and scuba diving get them into the water. The lake makes for excellent fishing, offering trout and smallmouth bass. Eclectic Sun is the go-to spot within the park to rent any gear and supplies needed to make the most of a day at the lake.

Sumter National Forest offers diverse terrain and trails perfect for walking, hiking, and mountain biking. The forest is home to an abundance of wildlife and birds, so visitors should be on the lookout. Paddling and fishing in the Chattooga River, horseback riding, ATVing, and dirt biking are all activities to be found somewhere in this massive forest.
