Gerlach, Nevada

Scenic views
This ranch is located in Gerlach, Nevada, and is situated on the border with the Black Rock Desert, one of the state's most impressive natural landscapes. The property's location in the Hualapai Valley means the site is more topographically interesting than one might presume when thinking of rural Nevada. It is 40 minutes by car to the town center of Gerlach, in case guests need supplies.

Notably, the property is only an hour's drive from the site of the Burning Man Festival (Black Rock City), making it a possible place to stay before, during, or after the festival, if guests are thinking of stretching their time in Nevada. The "Biggest Little City in the World", Reno, is approximately 130 miles away, and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the surest bet to find a helpful connecting flight for the majority of travelers.

As well as being a site of accommodation, the ranch is also a wildlife refuge, so make sure to get a happy snap with some of nature's most beautiful creatures, such as antelope, deer, and horses (all wild, of course, so guests should maintain a safe distance!). Guests are also welcome to bring their own horses and explore the surrounding wilderness, and the property's well-equipped corral is convenient to use (water troughs, feeders, and mineral licks all provided).

Pheasant hunting is also a popular activity at the ranch, and the staff is more than willing to help guests have the best possible experience on the prowl for game. Hikers will find plenty to love here, too, particularly the opportunity to retrace the steps of the Applegate-Lassen Historic Trail through High Rock Canyon. Guests should also be aware that the ranch is a useful springboard for ATV and bike excursions, so be sure to bring along any vehicles that are raring to explore the great unknown.
