The winter months are great for accessing the many ski resorts in the Taos Ski Valley, which is just north of the property. Downhill skiing and snowboarding are the most popular winter sports, but guests can also rent snowmobiles or cross-country ski. Bird watching is great during the winter, where the vibrant colors stand out against the white snow.
The warmer weather months allow for more mobility around the surrounding areas, so guests can also explore the Ski Valley without snow, or they can venture to other surrounding mountain peaks, explore nearby rivers, or visit Carson National Forest to the south. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, mountain climbing, and camping are popular in these areas. There are great hiking trails in Carson National Forest, and the mountains offer great terrain for mountain biking and horseback riding. Eagle Nest Lake and various other lakes and streams are great for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming.
Taos and the area surrounding are famous for sightseeing, especially sights like Taos Pueblo, Picuris Pueblo, and the highest bridge in the United States, The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, are all close by to the property.
