This houseboat rental is located on the Blackwood River near Augusta, Western Australia, and can accommodate four guests. There are two bedrooms, each outfitted with bunk beds, and a private bathroom with a shower and a toilet. Linens and towels are provided by the hosts for the guests.

The living room comes with a sofa, as well as a television. The helm of the ship is also in the main room. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with an oven, a refrigerator, and a stove top. There are two decks on the main level, the one in the front of the houseboat has seating and an ice box and the deck in the back comes with a barbecue. The deck on top is covered and comes with a picnic table and unbeatable views of the surrounding river area.

There is ample parking at the base for cars when residents arrive. The floating property has a motor and is able to drive up and down 28 kilometers of the Blackwood River. There is also a two-way radio and phone reception in case of an emergency. The rentals are also fitted with water, fuel, and solar power, any additional supplies can be brought or purchased at local general stores along the river.

Location + Surroundings

This property is located on the Blackwood River, which runs from the West Bay all the way up to the Alexandra Bridge. The Blackwood River winds from Quelarup all the way down to Flinders Bay which eventually flows into the Indian Ocean. The towns of Kudardup and Augusta lie along the river to the west and follow the river as it meets the ocean at Flinders Bay. The closest airport is Busselton Regional Airport, which is in the city of Busselton and is about an hour drive away to the north. It is a three and a half hour drive from Perth International Airport.

The Blackwood River is full of plenty of fish, and it is mainly known for King George Whiting and black bream fish, as well as crabs when they are in season. Also, the river is clean and swim-friendly, so guests should bring bathing suits and hop into the water to enjoy the refreshing river, relieving themselves of the Western Australia heat. Or, guests can stay on the houseboat and watch as the ecosystem of the river unfolds, from the birds in the sky to the animals along the river banks and the fish in the river.
