Take a break for a weekend getaway in Quebec and go camping (Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada)
Bordering the beautiful Shawinigan River, the town of Shawinigan is fantastically located equidistant between Montreal to the southwest and Quebec City to the northeast, just a few miles south of the breathtakingly beautiful Parc nationale de la Mauricie (or the La Mauricie National Park). The countryside around Shawinigan is just beautiful; rolling hills are chequered with farmlands, woodlands sprawl as far as the eye can see, and gorgeous still lakes dot the landscape at every turn. Glampers can enjoy planning hikes each evening and strolling through the woodlands by day, looking out for bears or heading for the canopy with a treetop tour, or taking in the sights on the cute Parc L-Le Melville island. Day trips can be taken to Mauricie National Park for excellent hiking trails and wonderful scenery. Stay closer and go camping! Mauricie is a wonderful place to do it. There are excellent traditional activities around, like golfing and fishing, and a plethora of locally-run restaurants and bars to visit for a cozy evening. So why not go camping? Shawinigan will not disappoint!
