This site does a very good job differentiating from the ordinary without compromising on luxury, and it pays attention to details to ensure the highest level of comfort for guests. The tents are built on stilts a nd have 3 protective layers for the rain and sun and an inner sealed canvas shell. The interior is comfortable and spacious. Each tent has twin beds, which can be joined to make a comfortable queen bed. A sofa bed can also be added for a child under 12. The en-suite bathroom has a hot shower and flush toilet. There are also cupboards, a writing desk, and a fan/heater for temperature control. Turn down service includes a fleece covered hot water bottle to keep your feet warm, which is a nice touch to the already attentive service. Also, all tents have a large balcony with hammock and chairs to enjoy the wonderful views.
The safari camp has a stylish central lodge, nine luxury African-style tents, and a conservational farm. The central lodge provides spectacular views from its veranda. Inside there is a lounge, bar, restaurant, and also a cozy fireplace. Wifi is available in the main lodge.
The well-provisioned bar provides guests some cool refreshment after busy days exploring the island. People say it has the best made Mojitos because they pick the mint from the garden at the camp!
Meals can be enjoyed in the dining room or outside on the veranda. Every meal is carefully prepared and the presentation is exquisite. The safari camp is in the property of a 130 acre farm in the high lands of Santa Cruz Island.
On the farm you can spend time walking, bird watching and spotting visiting tortoises.
The area near the farm includes attractions ranging from a tortoise reserve to lava tunnels and a volcanic crater. Walking, cycling or horseback riding can be arranged upon request.
The lower part of Santa Cruz features white sandy beaches where you can snorkel, dive, kayak, surf or swim.
The location of the camp is central to all areas of the Island. The activities on the island of Santa Cruz include seeing the huge tortoises, visiting the Charles Darwin Station and kayaking in Tortuga Bay. The marine life in Tortuga Bay is astounding, you may encounter dozens of sharks, sea turtles, manta rays of several varieties, marine iguanas and maybe even a blue footed booby.
There are daily organized land and boat excursions and also safari packages with private guides on shared boat trips to the nearby islands, like Bartolomé, Seymour and Plazas. Also worth mentioning is that the crew prepares impressive home-cooked lunches each day from scratch in the tiny galley of the boat on those island excursions. The hand-picked guides are very knowledgeable.
Bartolomé Island offers a nice short hike to the top of the old volcano where you will be treated to stunning views. There are also some gorgeous beaches on both sides of the island.
Both Plazas Island and North Seymour Island are nice nesting sites for animals such as frigates, boobies, land iguanas, and also sea lions and marine iguanas on the shore.
