Guests can enjoy a quintessential American summer at this lakeside cabin. Since this is a four-season lakeside destination, if guests get excited about fall, winter, or spring escapes, the hosts can make that happen too, in a technicolor autumn, a winter wonderland, or a spring awakening setting. On the banks of crystal-clear Strawberry Lake in the far Up North, this one-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin will entice even the most digitally connected guests to step away and enjoy the great outdoors like kids on summer vacation!
Built by local craftsmen in 2013, the cabin sits at the edge of Strawberry Lake, which is beautiful in all seasons but holds a special charm in the summertime. The air is warm, the sun shines bright and clear, and the deep green foliage dapples the glassy lake. Guests can enjoy all of this lush scenery from the spacious deck under the trees at the cabin, from morning coffee to an evening glass of wine.
No matter who guests are traveling with, the hosts highly recommend a canoe trip out on Strawberry Lake. The hosts' provide the canoe for guests! The water here is calm and peaceful, with less motorboat traffic than on many of the lakes in this area. Not to mention the water clarity: spring-fed Strawberry Lake is so clear, visitors can see almost 17 feet straight down to the bottom!
In summer, the Tamarac Lake National Wildlife Refuge, located just three miles away, comes alive and is a spectacular place for a hike or a bike ride. When you get back from outdoor adventuring, guests can heat up the gas or charcoal grill and get their energy back with a perfectly cooked lakeside burger. As the sun starts to sink and the stars begin to appear, guests can prepare the fire pit for a heavenly dessert of gooey toasted s’mores over a crackling flame. The cool air of Minnesota summers makes fireside chats comfortable long into the evening.
Should guests need to pick up basic groceries, get gas, a fishing license, bait, they will be just a 15-minute drive from the friendly neighboring town of Richwood.

Whether glampers are seeking outdoor adventure or a relaxing retreat in nature, there is something for everyone to enjoy during their stay. Guests will have no shortage of options for snow sports and activities during winter months. The area is home to 250 miles of groomed cross-country ski and snow-blading trails, extensive snowmobiling, ice fishing, downhill skiing, and snowshoeing trails. Pine Lake in the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and Maplelag Resort are both great spots for snow sports, and both sites are located under 10 minutes from the property.
When the weather is warmer, guests can head to one of several nearby parks and nature refuges to experience their scenic nature trails. Guests can explore by hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or by ATV or jeep. Of course, the region features countless sparkling spring-fed lakes for glampers to discover as well. Guests will be situated directly on Strawberry Lake, providing easy access from the dock to experience swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing. Guests can also enjoy golfing at Three Bears Country Club, a nine-hole course located just five miles from the property.
If guests are interested in dining out, Ice-Cracking Lodge (the host recommends the cheese curds and the "Thunder Burger") is a 15 minute drive through the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge - an especially entertaining drive for wildlife viewing at dusk.
