Glamping on the Back River: Maine weekend getaways

This beautiful Georgetown, Main treehouse rental overlooks the Back River near Brunswick and can accommodate four guests. Part modern treehouse, part tiny house, this custom-built dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a rope bridge elevated on posts and trees. A second rope bridge leads to a wood-fired cedar hot tub perched among the trees. Many vintage and salvaged materials were used to build this luxury camping house in the woods Maine has to offer.

In the first structure, there are two stories that include a master bedroom on the second floor, with a wall of south-facing windows and river views. It includes a king-size bed, or upon request, two twin beds can be arranged. On the first floor is a small kitchen, a small dining area with large windows for water views, a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with rockers and river views. The kitchen includes a two-burner stove, a sink, a small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, a toaster oven, and a corkscrew.

In the second structure, there is a convertible space with a wall of water-facing windows. Upon request, it can be set up as a second bedroom with either a king-size bed or two twin-size beds, or as a living space with sofas and a coffee table. There is a water-facing veranda off of the front of this structure.

Both structures have views down the large tidal Back River. In the distance, guests can see where the Back River meets the Kennebec River just before both flowing into the open ocean past Seguin Island.

Guests should note this tree-dwelling is available to rent from April 1st to January 2nd every year.

Glampers can enjoy their own private decking area with a hot tub and an enchanting spiral staircase. In addition, guests will have access to the 40-acre peninsula with docks, trails, and cottages. There is also a laptop-friendly workspace, free Wi-Fi, and ample on-site parking. The dwelling is well insulated and contains a heating unit.

Canoes and kayaks are available for use during the stay.

As the hosts live on adjoining property, they will warmly welcome guests upon arrival, and someone will always be available by phone or in-person to give some local tips and deal with any requests or queries.

Reid State Park, with its beautiful sandy beaches and hiking trails, is just a few miles from the property further into Georgetown.
