Killeen

Based in central Texas, Killeen is a city known for hosting the Fort Hood military base. Outside the city, you’ll find a selection of outdoor attractions, including Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Although the reservoir belongs to the U.S. Army, fishing activities are allowed in the region. Some of the fish you can find include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, and white bass. There’s also Dana Peak Park; the lakeside reserve is home to campgrounds, trails perfect for hiking and cycling activities, and several scenic viewpoints. As such, although Killeen remains under the radar in regards to touristic activities, it still offers a pleasant outdoor region to explore.
