Invercargill is New Zealand’s southernmost city, founded in the 1850’s and the capital of the region of Southland. Invercargill has an excellent range of shops and a selection of lively bars and restaurants for campers to explore, as well as the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco heritage buildings that give the city a charming old-world character. Not far from the city there's a great array of coastal landscapes for glampers to explore from the long coastal highway of Oreti Beach, to the native wonders of Waituna Wetlands and Omaui, or the boardwalk on the estuary and heritage wharfs. In the region of Southland, glampers can walk through the 80 hectares of beautiful surroundings, including an aviary, Japanese garden and rose gardens in central Queens Park; head out to Stirling Point in Bluff and get your photograph taken with it’s memorable world distance sign post, perhaps jump on a ferry and head over to Stewart Island to find adventure, tranquility and wildlife at its best.
