Scenic views
This unique eco friendly lodge is located at 5,500 feet on the verdant cedar forest slopes of Mt Nyiru, which towers majestically above the Elbarta plains, between Karisia Mountains and Lake Turkana in North Kenya. From the lodge there are breathtaking views over the Northern Frontier, the desert and distant Blue Mountains. You’ll be able to explore all the craters, volcanoes and the incredible Lake Turkana by plane on wonderful ‘flying safaris’ during the day, and then return to the cool green mountain in the afternoon.

Because of its remoteness and its organic style of building with sustainable products and use of solar power, this property is the perfect model for eco-tourism, providing their guests a more natural experience - hiking, forest walking, camel walking, river sliding and so forth - than the more conventional ‘game drive’ one comes to Africa or Kenya to partake in.
Activities near Nairobi
  • Wildlife watching

  • Safari/Game drive

There are so many wonderful unique experiences and activities to enjoy, from flying safaris to visit various culturally important sites and spectacular locations, to nature walks around the mountain, camel walks and visiting the local tribal communities. Because this property is located at the foot of a Samburu holy mountain, Oldonyo Nyiru, you will have the unique opportunity to be part of the most important celebrations of the community which traditionally take place at the top of the mountain. They are inaccessible to outsiders but for guests of this site, Samburu people make an exception.
