Guests can charter fishing and scenic trips around the island or take a trip to nearby Ulva Island to see the wildlife, visit the beach, go for a hike, or enjoy a picnic. There are plenty of options for kayak rentals to explore the pristine clear waters to try and see penguins, marine mammals, and albatross. Rakiura National Park is made up of nature reserves, scenic reserves, and State Forest areas. Hikers can try the popular Rakiura Track in the park and spot several native birds. The park has the best opportunities in New Zealand for spotting the kiwi in the wild and in coastal parts of the park glampers can see some breeding areas for the endangered yellow-eyed penguin.
