Visit Wales with the most idyllic places to stay in Powys

These stunning yurts near Hay-on-Wye are ideal for luxury camping in Wales. Getaways here mean that guests can enjoy a unique stay in one of these locally built yurts located near the bottom of the field looking up towards the mountains with easy access to a stream. They are set far enough apart so as not to disturb each other, but close enough for groups who wish to go on holiday in Wales together. Each Wales yurt measures a generous 18 feet in diameter and sits on a raised deck overlooking the field.

Named after the crops grown in the host's arable field, Barley is the first yurt guests come to and enjoys the evening sun. Wheat is tucked away into the corner of the field while Maize, although the furthest away, has the best panoramic views. Each Wales glamping retreat has a huge skylight that offers the amazing experience of stargazing from the bed. The lack of light pollution means that on a clear night the sky is absolutely crammed with them!

Individually styled using a combination of antique and modern furnishings, the interior of each yurt is slightly different, but they all contain a super comfy king size bed complete with 100% cotton linen and towels and two singles (guests should bring sleeping bags or duvets and sheets for these). An extra child’s bed or travel cot is available on request (guests should bring their own bedding for the cot).

For guests' comfort, glampers will also find rugs, cushions, blankets, a range of atmospheric lighting, and of course the wood-burning stove to cozy up to (a basket of logs is included, more can be purchased on-site). There’s also a small table and chairs for playing board games or indulging in romantic meals.

Each pitch is completely self-contained. There’s a large sundeck with outdoor shelter, a fully equipped kitchen hut, a picnic bench, deckchairs, a fire pit/BBQ, a private compost loo, and new for 2021, a private shower room.
