Based in a serene and secluded setting near the Allegheny State Forest in Pennsylvania, this cozy vacation cabin is located on eight acres of private, forested land and only a two-hour drive from Pittsburgh. The cabin can sleep up to eight guests with three bedrooms that include a queen-size bed in the loft, a double bed on the lower floor, and the third room with a set of twin bunks. There is a queen-size air mattress for additional guests if required.

Each room has been warmly decorated with a rustic elegance and features a mountain cabin theme as well as hardwood flooring and large windows while the beds all come with quality linens and comfortable pillows. There is one full bathroom, which displays a modern design that comes with a toilet, a hand basin, and a shower and tub combination.

After a day’s activities in one of Clearfield County’s state parks, guests can kick their shoes off and chill out on leather seating in front of a wood-burning fireplace and a television. Home-cooked meals can be prepared in the fully equipped kitchen that features an array of modern appliances including an oven, a stove, a microwave, and a refrigerator while there is plenty of room for more than one chef on cooking duty and there is a dining table that can sleep up to 12 guests.

Outside, guests can gather around the fire pit to toast s’mores and admire the clear skies of the countryside for the ideal end to the evening. There are many state parks and forests within easy driving distance, and if guests fancy a change of scenery, the city of Pittsburgh is just two hour's drive away.

The property is well equipped with an array of amenities in its completely equipped kitchen as well as a wood-burning fireplace that keeps the cabin cozy and warm in the colder months. Air conditioning is provided, though rarely needed, during the summer months. Guests have access to a covered deck, a screened-in porch, and a gas grill for barbecue meals in the sunshine. There is a fire pit for cooking over an open flame. Firewood is provided for the wood burner and for starting the fire pit fires, however, guests are asked to gather wood from the surrounding forest to feed the fire pit flames.

This property's eight acres are located in a secluded setting surrounded by the 200,000 plus acres of the Moshannon State Forest. Two miles from the S.B. Elliot and Parker Dam State Parks and four miles south of Penfield, Pennsylvania. The cabin offers guests a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, town or suburban life. Located mid-way between the towns of DuBois and Clearfield, four miles south of Penfield and just two-tenths of a mile off of State Route 153, along the Elk Scenic Drive.

This property is a perfect base from which to explore the Pennsylvania Wilds, a 12-county area that has as much wilderness as Yellowstone National Park. The property is sheltered by tall trees and boasts a large lawn and a fire pit with seating, where guests can build a fire, roast hot dogs, marshmallows, and soak in the soothing sights and sounds of the forest. Penfield is a historic town that can be reached by car from Pittsburgh in about two hours.

Clearfield County, part of the Pennsylvania Wilds, is home to several state parks where guests can hike and bike along scenic trails or take a horseback riding tour along spectacular routes that pass rivers, forests, and lakes. Moshannon State Forest borders the cabin's eight acres, Parker Dam State Park, and S.B. Elliot State Park is two miles from the cabin. The Elk Visitor's Center and elk herd in Benezette, Curwensville State Dam and Bilger’s Rocks with its fascinating geological structures, are just a half-hour drive away. Groundhog Day celebrations can be enjoyed at Punxsutawney, around 35 miles away.

The towns of Clearfield (12 miles from cabin) and DuBois (16 miles from cabin) offer restaurants for every taste, unique shops, theater, including a drive-in theater. Activities available on or with a starting point directly from the property are biking, hiking, hunting, walking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, cross-country skiing, ATV/Quads, snowmobiling, and photography. All other activities are available within a 10 to 30-minute drive.

Pets must be crated if left alone in the cabin Guests should inquire at the time of booking with the number and species of furry friends.

The cabin has beds for six in its three bedrooms: the loft bedroom has a queen bed, two bedrooms are on the first floor, one has a double bed, the other has bunk beds. There is space in the loft for setting up a queen-size air bed, which is stored in the loft closet. The dining table seats 10 easily. There is one full bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
