Two-Bedroom Log Cabin on the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States and is home to an abundance of flora and fauna. The area is as rich in history as it is in natural beauty and is a great place to come and spend time outdoors. Here in Onemo, Virginia, this property sits on Winter Harbor, of the Chesapeake Bay, with beautiful water views from almost every window. Less than an hour and a half in the car from Richmond, guests can escape to the coast for a quick weekend getaway or take a few more vacation days and make a real trip out of it. The Chesapeake Bay Watershed, or the 64,000 square miles around the bay, has millions of acres protected from development. This makes the area perfect for fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and boating.

Winter Harbor is a shallow cove off of the Chesapeake Bay very close to the old Wolf Trap Lighthouse. It is part of the County of Mathews "Blueways Water Trails" popular with kayakers and paddleboarders. It has a channel for about a half mile and then there is an average of two feet of water over a broad expanse for a half a mile or so to the cabin pier. Guests will be a 15-minute paddle to the Bay and several miles on a bike to Bethel Beach. Few power boats come into Winter Harbor, making it great for peace and quiet and bird watching.
