About this place
Lost River State Park is the perfect destination for swimming, birding, camping, hiking or just plain relaxing and enjoying the unsurpassed beauty. It is a perfect choice if you like hiking and enjoy nature.
Hiking at Lost River State Park is exceptional and covers 23 miles of trails providing hours of exercise and an unparalleled opportunity to study nature, given the abundance of flora and fauna found in the park.
Campsite A is located off the White Oak and Miller's Rock trails. From your parking location near the stables, it is about a 1.5-mile winding hike to the tent. Perched on high ground Campsite A has open skies above and is perfect for stargazing. From your tent, it is also approximately a 1/2 mile hike to the scenic Cranny Crow Overlook with its commanding views of Virginia and West Virginia at 3,200 feet elevation.
Your campsite is equipped with a sturdy canvas tent on its own wooden deck platform. The tent is furnished with a queen bed and memory foam mattress and side tables. A picnic table, fire pit with a grill, solar shower, and portable camp loo are also provided. There is an additional pop-up tent provided for up to 4 extra guests, but you will have to bring your own air mattresses/sleeping pads for this tent.
Beyond your campsite, you can enjoy many other recreational amenities available at Lost River like the outdoor swimming pool, horseback riding, tennis courts, volleyball court, archery range, badminton, and horseshoe.
Horseback riding on the park's beautiful wooded trails with scenic overlooks and panoramic views is a memorable experience and expert guides will accompany you from Hidden Trails Stables (available seasonally). Private riding is available year-round after registering at the park office.
