This cottage is located on Beaver Island, Michigan, where it is situated on the island's western shore. Set on a wooded, 10-acre property with 200 feet of private beachfront on Lake Michigan, the cottage is just footsteps from a sandy beach, where guests can enjoy views of High Island during the day and the sunset in the evening. Following the beach to the south, guests will reach a stony beach that provides an excellent site for rockhounding.

About five miles to the north, guests will find Barney's Lake Nature Preserve. Encompassing the woodlands, marshy areas, and shrubby habitats that surround the lake after which it is named, the preserve is inhabited and visited by bald eagles, ospreys, Caspian terns, sandpipers, American woodcocks, common loons, and a variety of songbirds that live among the surrounding woodlands, which are composed of maple, birch, cedar, hemlock, oak, juniper, hemlock, pine, and spruce trees.

From the preserve, guests can access the Kuebler Trail, which takes guests on a winding journey through a northern hardwood forest to the sandy-rocky beach of McCauley’s Point on the southern end of Donegal Bay, providing opportunities to see thrushes, woodpeckers, red-eyed vireos, waterfowl, and shorebirds along the way. The Kuebler Trail connects to a network of trails that extends throughout the island, providing access to its nature preserves, inland lakes, and natural attractions, such as the Little Sand Bay Nature Preserve, the George and Althea Petritz Nature Preserve, Font Lake, Lake Geneserath, and Mt. Pisgah. The latter is a towering sand dune that guests can climb, leading to a scenic view from the top.

The cottage is about a 20-minute drive from the village of Beaver Island, where guests will find restaurants, shops, and attractions such as the Beaver Island Historical Society Museum, the Beaver Island Toy Museum, and the Beaver Island Harbor Light. To reach Beaver Island, guests can travel by private plane or Island Airways charter flight to the island's Welke Airport. Alternatively, they can take the Beaver Island Ferry, which can also transport their vehicles and bicycles. Both the ferry and the charter flight service depart from Charlevoix, Michigan, which is about three hours and 15 minutes from Flint, Michigan, where the nearest international airport is located.
