This popular spot is also surrounded by attractions such as Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island, Ocqueoc Falls, Black Mountain, and more. Those looking to discover the history and culture can explore the surrounding towns, cities, and lighthouses, while nature lovers will feel right at home with the huge array of outdoor activities on offer all year round.

Day trips can be spent visiting Mackinac Island and the bridge before stopping off at the city to grab a bite to eat. Ocqueoc Falls is less than 30 minutes south of the site and provides six miles of hiking and biking in the summer. After, guests can take a dip in the water to cool off. These hiking trails make fantastic cross-country skiing trails in the winter months. Scuba divers and snorkelers can head to Alpena to explore some of the hundreds of shipwrecks on the lake. Other water activities the impressive lake offers include kayaking, sailing, and sport-fishing. There are also numerous beaches for relaxing on with a picnic and guests can spend their afternoons exploring the many state parks. In winter, these same parks provide great snowmobiling trails and snowshoeing paths.
