The Hocking Hills region of Ohio offers a wide variety of activities and natural attractions for guests of all ages. Guests will be able to encounter the waterfalls, deep gorges, cliffs, and dramatic boulders of the Appalachian Mountains. Rockbridge State Nature Preserve features a unique natural sandstone bridge, as well as walking trails and nature viewing. Hocking Hills State Park has several caves, as well as waterfalls and hiking trails.
Hikers can trek along the Grandma Gatewood Trail, which is part of the Ohio Buckeye Trail that loops around the state and includes road and wooded trails. Lake Logan is the place to go for boating, fishing, and kayaking. Winter sports enthusiasts will be happy to know that Mad River Mountain Ski Resort is about an hour and 45 minutes away. It has downhill skiing and snowboarding. Additional outdoor activities include birdwatching, rock climbing, and horseback riding.
Columbus, about an hour away, makes a nice day trip for the whole group. Attractions include the Columbus Museum of Art, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
