La Sal
The tiny settlement of La Sal, located near and named after Utah’s soaring, ancient La Sal Mountains, is located just 30 minutes from Moab and makes for a great base to explore local wilderness trails either by bike or on foot while still being within range of the facilities of the city, giving it a perfect balance between convenience and access to wild scenery. The area is also handy for exploring some of Utah’s most scenic national parks, namely the Arches National Park, with its eponymous, majestic stone bridges, the highest density of stone arches in the world, and Canyonlands, with its labyrinthine network of eroded canyons and rock formations, both of which offer spectacular, quintessentially Western scenery for hikers and sightseers alike.
