This town is rich in history, and tourists are well aware of this fact. Having been named after the founder Colonel William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, who passed through the region in the 1870s, there are five museums to visit when guests are in Cody. The most famous of these museums being Buffalo Bill Center of the West, which is an amazing way to learn about the history of the town, as well as the ecosystem of the Yellowstone area. Another museum guests are sure to enjoy is the Cody Firearms Museum, with an unbelievable collection of firearms from many different time periods.
Located just 52 miles from the east entrance of the world-renowned Yellowstone National Park, this town offers guests ample opportunity to experience the rolling hills and beautiful countryside found in national parks such as this. Other natural areas and parks to look out for are Buffalo Bill Dam, Teton National Forest, and Shoshone National Forest.
