The village of South Royalton, which is a registered historic district on account of its fine period architecture and is located in central Vermont’s Windsor County, is ideally placed for glampers who wish to sample both the rugged backcountry and the small-town charm of the scenic Green Mountain State. Outdoors enthusiasts will love it for its proximity to the Green Mountains, and the Long Trail, the oldest long-distance hiking route in the USA, which passes nearby along the crest of Vermont’s mountain spine on its way to Canada, and also for the numerous ski resorts that dot the area, including famous Killington, home of the largest vertical drop in New England. History buffs will also find much of interest in the area, such as the historic architecture of South Royalton itself, or nearby Woodstock which is home to the Billings Farm, a National Historical Park.
