McCarthy

Located in the heart of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, McCarthy offers a view into the historic mining past of Alaska, as well as truly incredible outdoor adventure opportunities for any adventurous glamper. The drive here from Anchorage on the rugged McCarthy Road is considered one of the most scenic in Alaska, although be careful as is unpaved. Of course, the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is the largest national park in the country, with an extraordinary 13.2 million acres of protected land, and several mountain ranges. This means that you can do anything from glacier trekking to whitewater rafting to flightseeing trips, to hiking, or rafting in this fantastic town.
