Amazing Hawaii Getaway on an Old Lava Flow

Container in Kalapana, HI

8 guests • 3 bedrooms • 4 beds

This superb Hawaii getaway is ideal for nature enthusiasts. This beautiful three-bedroom, one-bathroom eco-friendly off-grid home was built on an old lava flow out of three cargo containers. The Hawaii vacation rental was built with quality and function in mind and there are three sliding glass doors for an incredible breeze and views of the ocean and old lava landscape. Out the back, guests even have large windows with a view of the stunning Kīlauea Volcano.

The home possesses so many cool features and as guests step inside they are greeted with an open feel 16’ by 16’ room. The first interesting pieces of furniture are the dining table and chairs that were recycled from an old teak wood boat. Then there is the highly functional sofa and ottoman that not only lifts up to provide storage but also converts to a king-size bed.

Guests will also be drawn to the exquisite mango wood that was used for the countertops in the kitchen and bath. Once glampers see the pebble stone-floored bathroom they will again be amazed at the size. Inside, guests will find a kind petrified wood vessel sink sitting on a great piece of mango with a natural live-edged mirror. Glampers can also pick any bedroom and find a platform bed that gives the sense it is floating that was custom made by a local Hawaiian.

Guests should note that the property is comprised of two homes the other is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom Hawaii retreat also available for rent if guests have a larger group.
