On a broader scale, the island of Kauai offers a wealth of views and activities for guests. The Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway runs through the spreading branches of eucalyptus that form the so-called "Tree Tunnel", the seaside "puhi" (or spouting hole), the National Tropical Botanical Garden, and the Hapa Trail. Those looking for closer views of nature can travel directly to the Waimea Canyon (called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific") or even charter a zodiac boat and take a ride past the Na Pali cliffs. Visitors can look upon the Nounou Mountain, called "the Sleeping Giant," after a Hawaiian legend which says that the mountain is, in fact, a giant resting after overeating. Guests can even take a hike up to the giant's forehead and look for themselves.
