Fully Outfitted Yurt on Trinity River, Northern CaliforniaBig Flat, California (United States)
Description of Glamping Units
This luxury yurt can sleep up to five glampers. There is a plush, queen-sized bed, though more beds and mattresses can be added to the accommodation's loft and in other areas, depending on the number of guests. In the bedroom area, there is an electric fireplace to keep guests cozy and warm at night.
The kitchenette comes with a small refrigerator, a toaster oven, a microwave, a coffeemaker, a sink, and kitchen utensils. If glampers need more fridge space, the refrigerators in the property's cafe can be used, too, and there is also a barbecue outdoors for guests to cook on.
Inside the glamping yurt, there is a clawfoot bathtub with a shower component; elegant and concealing curtains surround the tub for a private, relaxing soak or shower. The bathroom, which has a toilet, a sink, a mirror, and toiletries, is located in the middle of the yurt and is its own separate area with a door. Great spot with personable staff and delicious home-cooked food!

This was a great experience for us. Location is great, near the river and we even got to see a Bald eagle! Food at the cafe is great. They close early so you have to be prepared. Service is very good and very accommodating. There are many activities around at a short driving distance. The Yurt is a bit close to the highway so it can be noisy at times during the night, but nothing major.

We had a wonderful weekend in this special Yurt. Our hosts were friendly and relaxed, and the food was excellent. There is a beautiful place to relax down by the river. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful surroundings and Don does an amazing job at keeping everything pristine. We went river rafting which was a blast and when you come down around the bend to the Strawhouse the whole river is transformed. The Yurt was so comfortable and they really thought of everything. We enjoyed bathing in the claw foot tub with the bath salts left for us. We played games in the grassy knoll just in front of the yurt. The bird watching was so relaxing; bluejays, humming birds, finches and we saw several bald eagles as well. Sitting along the shore you will forget you are about 50 yards away from a HWY, which is the down part. I would over look the proximity of the busy road and come back. The yurt is supplied with relaxing music you can play to divert your attention away from the occasional truck and if you are by the river you won't notice them at all. You do have to cross the road to get to the river, so be aware of that as well. We didn't cook in the Yurt, the property has many tasty and healthy choices - we had great pizzas, quinoa salad and the tri-tip was absolutely out of this world - Don marinates for up to 6 weeks. There is minimal supplies in the kitchen so if you are going to cook don't expect a fully stocked kitchen to do it in. If you are looking for a place to completely unwind, this is it! Had an amazing 2 days!

Wonderful place! Very clean and well maintained (I have extremely high standards). If you're seeking peace and quiet and breathtaking views this is the place. Put down the tech gear and enjoy! Activities in the area are hiking, horseback riding, rafting/kayaking, boating and general site seeing. The owners/hosts were welcoming, kind and accommodated all of our requests. They made our stay even more enjoyable. Cafe on the grounds...good food and coffee/espresso everyday (and brick oven pizza on Friday & Saturday). Given the opportunity I would definitely go back.

Nice and clean, but right on hwy299. Truck traffic was noisy all night. Access to the river and several hikes in the area. Cafe was good, but only slight reference to the automatic 18% gratuity. Overall we enjoyed it. Nice to have A/C when it's 100. Recommend earplugs.

We loved it. The yurt is beautiful. The food at the cafe was very good. Yes, there is slight traffic noise but the experience was so good that it did not bother us.

It was our first visit here and it likely will not be our last. The Yurt was a unique experience for the entire family! We enjoyed the beautiful setting of the cafe right next to the Trinity River...such an idyllic spot to relax and unwind. The owners & staff were delightful to chat with and made every effort to make our stay the relaxing getaway we needed! Thank you!

Recommend this for anyone who is looking for a relaxing weekend, the strawhouse cafe was awesome and the couple that run the resort were so dedicated and made us feel like we were part of their family. Will definitely go back.

Our hosts were terrific on every level. Such wonderful people! Could have used an extra blanket, as it was rather chilly at night. Also, a dish rack would have been helpful. The yurt was beautiful, but wished it had been on the river side of the highway, since the noise of the logging trucks was pretty loud. Thanks for providing the great bird watching books. We loved it there and hope to return!

Great and unique experience!

Trinity River is one of Northern California’s most scenic rivers. It offers great year-round fishing opportunities. Glampers can try their hand at snatching up some steelhead, salmon, and German brown fish. With over 260 species, this area is a bird watcher’s paradise. While sipping on a steamy cup of coffee, first thing in the morning from the comfort of the accommodation deck, glampers may spot bald eagles, blue heron, merganser, stellar jays, turkey vultures, sharp-shinned hawks, rufous hummingbirds, golden eagles, and more. Do not miss out on the other fun activities to experience including hunting, kayaking and canoeing right at the heart of the river, to hiking and biking on the beautiful trails. Bringing a camera or mobile device with a good camera is a must for capturing some great action shots and picturesque scenery. Make sure to visit the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival during the summer months.
