Vintage Trailer Rental with Western Flair in Joshua Tree, California

Welcome! Tucked away in the magic of Joshua Tree, this is more than just a retreat—it’s a portal to something beyond. A break in reality. A place to slow down, soak in the silence, and embrace the unexpected.
Each unit is a tiny home with its own private space, designed for peace, solitude, and just the right amount of adventure. While you’re welcome to explore the whole property, we encourage a bubble of privacy around each retreat. Think of it as your own personal hideaway in the desert.
The common area is a perfect spot to gather but guests mostly keep to themselves. Fire up the BBQ, relax in the lounge space, sweat it out in the sauna, or cool off in the outdoor shower under the open sky. We also have laundry facilities available.
Visit The Oracle at sunrise for coffee, tea, and a moment of reflection with tarot. This vintage trailer, a timeless icon, invites you to start your day with warmth, curiosity, and maybe even a little insight from the universe.
If you’re looking for a deeper connection, take a yoga mat down to the meditation space, a quiet private space of the property designed for stillness and introspection. Whether it’s a morning flow or simple breathwork, it’s the perfect place to tune into the desert’s rhythm and let the energy of the landscape guide you.
At night, get ready for some of the best stargazing you’ve ever seen! We follow Dark Sky Association guidelines, meaning no harsh lights—just endless constellations stretching across the sky, and dead silence, except for the occasional coyote call.
We’re all about living in harmony with nature, so we use permaculture methods like greywater systems, rainwater harvesting, greenhouse gardening, and repurposed materials.
*Quick note: in the kitchen, the right sink is for black water (your regular sink), and the left sink is for greywater (rinse only). Showers and bathroom sinks are also part of the greywater system, so please stick to eco-friendly products. And sorry, but bleach is a no-go.
Kick back, explore, and let the desert work its magic. We hope you leave feeling inspired.

For those drawn to desert mystique, vintage charm, and off-grid living, this retreat offers a rare kind of magic. Set on five wild acres in North Joshua Tree, it's a place where history, art, and ecology collide under endless skies.
Each of the four vintage trailers is a portal of its own. Step into a different world: one celebrates classic Western grit, another dives into mid-century sci-fi and space-age nostalgia. One channels the golden glow of old Hollywood, and the fourth—a Led Zeppelin-inspired sanctuary—hovers above the desert floor like it's ready to lift off. All are lovingly restored in authentic 1950s style, complete with antique details and handpicked décor.
You’re just 20 minutes from the wonders of Joshua Tree National Park, but with so much soul on the property itself, you might not want to leave. Trails, stargazing, and solitude are all at your doorstep.
This is more than a glamping spot—it’s a living experiment in sustainable design. Greywater nourishes the landscape. Solar panels soak in the sun. And if you’re curious, the host offers a permaculture tour by appointment to walk you through the systems powering this little desert utopia.
Whether you’re booking a solo escape or taking over all four trailers for a small retreat or family reunion (up to 16 guests total), you’ll have space to breathe and be. Guests are left to enjoy the silence, and the hosts honor your desire to unplug.
At night, you’ll hear coyotes sing. By day, wander among rock formations, desert flora, and the timeless beauty of the high desert. And when you feel like dipping back into civilization, downtown Joshua Tree is less than 10 minutes away—with its open mic nights, art walks, local eats, and a creative pulse you can feel in the air.
Need city energy? Palm Springs is just an hour away. But chances are, the desert will have already worked its magic.Activities near Joshua Tree

With the wild beauty of Joshua Tree National Park just minutes away, you’ll have endless ways to explore the desert’s magic. Hike sunbaked trails, climb ancient rock formations, or just wander and let the landscape lead you. Landmarks like the Integratron—a sound-powered dome offering otherworldly sound baths by appointment—add a touch of mysticism to your adventure.
Closer to home, the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum (just a mile away) invites you into a world of large-scale desert art, while the Old West charm of Pioneertown and the legendary vibes of Pappy & Harriet’s are perfect for a day trip or night out. For a family-friendly detour, Gubler Orchids offers tours through a lush, unexpected oasis.
When you’re ready to trade desert silence for a little town energy, Joshua Tree’s art galleries, shops, and local eats are just a few minutes away. On the second Saturday of each month, the galleries stay open late for an evening of art under the stars.
Planning your visit? Keep an eye on visitjt.org or local Facebook pages for event updates. From the bi-annual Joshua Tree Music Festival in May and October to spiritual gatherings like Bhakti and Shakti Fest at the Retreat Center, and the sprawling Hwy 62 Art Tours in October, there's always something stirring in the desert.
