The cabin is located in a pretty rural area, about a five-minute drive from downtown Weed and 15-20 minutes from Mt Shasta. There is a greyhound stop in Weed and an amtrak stop in nearby Dunsmuir. Local buses and taxis are less frequent. It takes about four to four-and-a-half hours to drive here from the Bay Area without traffic. The closest airport is in Medford, Oregon, which is about an hour away.

There are a number of things glampers can do while staying at this A-frame cabin in Weed, California, including skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding on Mt. Shasta, which is just 15-20 minutes away by car. In addition, soak in the healing baths of Stewart Mineral Springs (just a 10-minute walk from the house); go shopping and visit cafes around the lovely towns of Yreka, Dunsmuir, and Mt. Shasta (just 15-25 minutes driving); and hike along the Pacific Crest Trail and Mt. Shasta, as well as explore the small Alpine lakes that surround them (a 15- to 20-minute drive).
Other activities include kayaking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and fishing in the summertime, as well as going to watch a Shakespearean play and explore the sweet town of Ashland, Oregon, which is located just 45 minutes away.
