Gainesboro

Located near Cookeville in the upper Cumberland region, tiny Gainesboro, Tennessee allows visitors to explore some of the scenic wonders of this rugged upland region of gorges and overlooks. The region’s geography has created many waterfalls, with rivers tumbling down from the plateau heights to the valley floors, some of which can be visited at the Cummins Falls and Burgess Falls State Parks. Meanwhile, the Cumberland Trail for hikers can be accessed at the nearby Catoosa Wildlife Management Area. This is a newly created route, created by hikers for hikers, to allow access to previously remote areas of the region, while minimizing environmental impact, takes walkers through the region’s bluffs and forests and allows them to experience the varied fauna of Appalachia, ranging from flying squirrels to bald eagles. Vibrant Nashville, capital of country music, is also nearby for those wishing for a dose of urban sophistication.
